The South Fraser Branch is one of 20 branches that are part of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers’ Association (est. 1947) which joins with the other provinces and territories of Canada to form the 3,980 member Canadian Federation of Music Teacher Associations (CFMTA).

Our members are professionally trained musicians who have a wide range of experience in the musical community – as teachers, performers, adjudicators, examiners, clinicians and impresarios.

As well as organizing events for continuing our own professional development, we volunteer our time to sponsor programs that benefit our students – such as master classes, student teacher workshops, recitals and our annual South Fraser Music Festival (est. 1959).  We celebrate Canada Music Week (a project of the CFMTA) and our members attend provincial and national conferences that offer enrichment in the art of teaching.
